We welcome current or recent graduate students with an advanced degree to join us in a three-week virtual program where you’ll be immersed in the life of a consultant in our Asia-Pacific region. It’s online, so you can apply and attend from anywhere, though those who are near an office may have an opportunity to visit.

You’ll get a mentor, attend interactive training, and learn how we help our clients solve challenges. At the end, you will be invited to interview for a full-time role. It's a fun adventure for the ambitious and globally minded.

This program is for current or recently graduated students
This program is for current graduate students or those who graduated within the last three years. You may be eligible if you have or are earning an advanced degree such as a PhD or postdoctoral, JD, MD with medical residency/fellowship, PharmD, or other doctorate-level degree.

What is the format—is this all virtual, or is there some in-person?
Access to APAC is a virtual program, with a few opportunities for in-person gatherings within the US, where participants are located close enough to each other.

Will this be less relevant just because it’s virtual?
Not at all. You’d be surprised by how much past interns say they’ve gotten out of it. The sessions are engaging and interactive, you’ll receive ample support, and it’s worth everything you put into it.

How do I pick a Bain office location when applying to Access to APAC?
Please pick an office where you would happily accept an offer to live and work once the program is over. If you are extended an offer, it’ll come from that office. Conversely, please don’t pick an office where you wouldn’t consider working, or where you’d be ineligible to work or apply for visa sponsorship.
Our Access to APAC program is only available in select Asia-Pacific offices.

I’m interested in a Bain office that doesn’t participate in Access to APAC. Would Bain consider making an exception?
We cannot make exceptions, but you have a few options. First, you may be interested in our ADvantage program, also for individuals with advanced degrees, run by select North American offices. Or, we’d encourage you to simply apply for a full-time position as a consultant at the office you’re interested in.

Once accepted into Access to APAC, can I transfer offices?
Not at this time. Please pick the one you are most interested in working at.

If I applied for the one-week ADvantage internship, can I also apply to Access to APAC?
No, please apply for one or the other. Choose whichever better fits your career goals, and the region you hope to eventually work in. (Asia-Pacific or North America.)

If I applied to or interviewed for Access to APAC and was not selected, can I still apply for a full-time position?
Yes, absolutely. Unsuccessfully applying to this program won’t affect your candidacy for another role. They’re two completely separate recruitment processes, and not succeeding in one isn’t an indication that you wouldn’t be a fit for the other. Plus, sometimes, those extra months of preparation help.

How soon will I be notified about the status of my application?
We’ll consider all applications at once, after the deadline has passed. Expect to hear back by email by late March. (It isn't a rolling consideration period.)

When in my academic career should I apply to Access to APAC?
We recommend you apply the year before you expect to complete your degree. That said, we welcome and frequently accept applications from those who graduated up to three years ago.
Some offices are flexible about whether you can start full-time in the same calendar year as when you complete your program. So if you’re looking to start immediately, please still apply. You’ll discuss start dates with our recruiting team prior to your interviews.

Are there any language proficiency requirements for my chosen Bain office?
Yes, they are as follows:
- Greater China: Mandarin (fluent), Cantonese (optional)
- Seoul: Korean
- Southeast Asia: All optional—Mandarin Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Bahasa Melayu, or Bahasa Indonesia
- Tokyo: Japanese (fluent, JLPT N1)
In any office not listed above, the only required language is English. -
I don’t have working rights or I need visa sponsorship, am I eligible for this program?
Possibly. To be eligible for Access to APAC, you must either already hold working rights to the country where your chosen office is located, or qualify for visa sponsorship. Please conduct your own research on the visa or work authorization requirements of any office you’re interested in.
