Hands on with agentic AI: AI masterclass in São Paulo
A data scientist’s candid take on what to expect, what you’ll learn, and how to apply
"I was worried that Bain might not live up to the expectations I had built during the recruiting process... but the moment I stepped into the event, I felt at home"
Júlia
AI Masterclass participant
Earlier this year, we hosted our first AI Masterclass in São Paulo—an event for data engineers, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and data scientists who want to explore real-world applications of generative AI and meet Bain’s AI, Insights & Solutions (AIS) team.
The Masterclass offers hands-on training and the chance to connect with Bain experts, including senior partners, engineers, and data scientists on the AIS team, in a casual, welcoming environment. To help future participants know what to expect, Júlia, a participant from the first session, shared her reflections.
What is it like to attend Bain’s AI Masterclass?

Júlia’s first impression was about people, not just AI. She joined the Masterclass at a unique moment, when she had already accepted her Bain offer but hadn’t met anyone in person.
“I was worried that Bain might not live up to the expectations I had built during the recruiting process, and that the reality could feel very different from what I imagined. But the moment I stepped into the event, I felt at home. A recruiter promptly greeted me and introduced me to the people I would be working with, so the weird feeling of ‘how to start talking to people’ simply didn’t exist.”
For many attendees, the Masterclass is the first time inside Bain’s São Paulo office. It’s a chance to experience Bain’s culture and build personal connections with the people who make up our tech and AI community.
What topics does Bain’s AI Masterclass cover?
Each Bain AI Masterclass spotlights a trending topic in generative AI. This session focused on Agentic AI—systems where multiple “agents” collaborate to solve complex problems. We explored how this approach can accelerate client impact and streamline internal operations.
The São Paulo event began with a discussion on why Agentic AI matters in the market, exploring how it can make operations more efficient, create opportunities for new products, and reshape core business processes.

The group moved into a technical discussion before turning to two illustrative business cases based on real client work that showed the concepts in practice:
- A Brazilian tech company using AI to help creators sell digital products like courses and e-books
- A Bain insurance client is using AI to reimagine processes in a traditionally change-resistant industry.
Together, the sample cases gave participants a sense of how broadly AI can be applied across different contexts.
The day closed with a live coding demo that spun up an agentic AI setup in real time. This step-by-step build showed how abstract frameworks can quickly become working systems and gave participants a taste of what it looks like moving from strategy to execution within a single session.
How does Bain use AI frameworks in practice?

One of the most memorable parts of the session was when Bain’s AIS team demonstrated how they used AI frameworks: the building blocks that can make generative AI more structured and reliable. For example:
- One framework helps divide tasks among different AI agents
- Another ensures humans remain “in the loop,” to guide and review results.
This combination helps balance automation with oversight. Júlia found this part especially exciting:
“I have a background in GenAI, especially with LangChain, a popular AI framework, and LangGraph, a newer extension that helps structure workflows, which are flexible but sometimes unstructured. When Bain shared their solution using Crew AI, a framework that structures collaboration among AI agents, I simply fell in love. The catchy point is that Crew AI doesn’t have a solution for human in the loop, so they embedded a LangGraph node inside Crew AI. Mixing two frameworks like that is, for me, a genius action.”
Even if you haven’t worked with these frameworks before, you’ll come away with a clear sense of how Bain applies the latest generative AI in practical and creative ways.
Why is the Bain AI Masterclass valuable for recruits?
Júlia emphasized that attending gave her a perspective on Bain she couldn’t get from reading or interviewing alone:
“You can read about Bain, listen about Bain, or even work with people from Bain; you simply cannot have a notion of how wonderful and inclusive and how big it is until you step into Bain’s office. Having the opportunity to listen to AIS colleagues talking about their expertise in such a hot topic like Agentic AI is essential.”
For participants, the Masterclass is both a technical learning opportunity and a window into Bain’s culture: collaborative, inclusive, and deeply invested in innovation.
What advice would past participants give before attending?
Júlia’s advice for future attendees is simple:
“Do it. Go with an open mind to grab as much knowledge as you can, since they have a lot to share and, more important, they are very happy to share.”
