Share your journey to Bain.

I was born and raised in Colombia and moved to the US to study at the University of Notre Dame. Like many other business majors, I became interested in careers in finance and consulting during my sophomore year. That’s when I participated in Bain’s Building Entrepreneurial Leaders (BEL) Program, where I realized how unique and distinct a career at Bain could be. Particularly, I learned three critical things:

1. The work is incredibly intellectually stimulating.

2. Bain’s horizontal team structure means you own your work and deliver insights from day one.

3. Most importantly, Bainies are some of the brightest, most supportive, and interesting people you’ll ever meet.

How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?

During my Associate Consultant internship, I received a return offer early on. Despite the excitement, I wanted to make sure this was the right career path for me after college before committing. The positive experiences that I had with my intern class and case team made the decision easy, and midway through my internship, I was ready to accept my offer.

When I casually mentioned my decision to my case team, I didn't expect much reaction. After all, I had the offer for a while. To my surprise, my Senior Manager (the busiest person on the team) immediately blocked the team's calendar for Friday and planed a celebratory event just for me.

At Bain, we thrive off a one-team mentality.

Do you feel like you can do impactful work at Bain? What opportunities excite you?

At Bain, the work we do has tangible impacts on both our clients and us. We’re tasked with solving complex problems that can have billion-dollar implications. Whether it is helping a Private Equity firm acquire a company, or guiding a CPG company’s market expansion, it’s incredibly rewarding to see the real-world impact of our efforts and think “Hey, I helped make that happen!”

Moreover, at Bain, every new challenge is the most demanding one yet. This constant push means that you are always maximizing your learning experiences and personal growth. The opportunity to learn at such an accelerated pace is perhaps the most impactful driver of career satisfaction and success at an early age.

Are you an alumni of any of Bain’s strategic talent partnerships?

In undergrad, I was the Chief Financial Officer for the ALPFA chapter at the University of Notre Dame. This role allowed me to gain a deep appreciation for Latino/a/x talent in the US and has motivated me to support individuals from similar backgrounds who are interested in careers in Consulting.

Are you now involved in any affinity groups at Bain?

I am a team Capitan (cohort lead) in Familia. Familia at Bain is a diverse community for Bain professionals with Hispanic, Latino/a/x, Chicano/a, Latin American, and Afro-Latino heritage. Familia has enriched my experience at Bain by providing opportunities to connect with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and in a more intimate setting than in the usual hallway conversations or case teams.
