Through high school and undergrad, I always valued having a sense of variety in my schedule - taking classes across different subject areas, or getting involved in a myriad of extracurriculars. I spent my freshman year exploring, learning about the different career paths available to me, and kept coming back to the idea of consulting. I was hooked by the idea of diverse projects and teams, and new topics to explore each day.
During my recruitment process, the Bainies I spoke with stood out as being incredibly warm and spoke well of the Bain community. This sense of support and community is what drew me to Bain (A Bainie Never Lets Another Bainie Fail, you know!), and is what made my intern summer so memorable. Now, as an AC2, I am grateful that support persists as I navigate new cases and new challenges each day.
How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?
There is a great sense of community at Bain, which rang true my intern summer in an extremely meaningful way - both in and out of the office. After going through a week of training together, my intern class was quick to send and respond to pings seeking help doing anything from making a chart look a certain way to using a new data analysis platform. No question was too small, and everyone was willing to help where they could.
Outside of work, I was heartened by my class's willingness to get to know each other outside of the work. People were quick to drop weekend plans - grabbing lunch, going to the zoo - in our chat, leading to a degree of connectivity that I hadn't expected going into the summer. That constant connectivity, openness, and support set Bain apart as the right company for me.
“Build Your Own Bain” means creating a thriving career on your own terms. How have you been able to “Build Your Own Bain?”
There are so many ways to be involved outside of just case work at Bain. In undergrad, I was very involved with a sustainability group on campus. I knew sustainability was something I wanted to continue to weave in to my Bain experience, so I immediatley sought out eco-focused 'Extra10s' in the Chicago office.
The search led me to the Green Team, which I now co-lead in Chicago. I am able to continue to make a positive impact by organizing speaker events, volunteer activities, and office initiatives that promote sustainability and connect folks in the office that share this interest. While the case I am staffed to may change every few months, I've built my own Bain by weaving sustainability in as a consistent piece of my experience.

My first case at Bain full-time is still one of my favorites - I spent six months working in the aviation industry, supporting pricing negotiations with key partners.
The amount of client interaction stood out to me most on the case. Early in my Bain career, I was working directly with clients to co-create solutions. It was incredible having the ability to dive in head-first so quickly, and to truly work alongside clients, developing strong relationships over time.
