Bain's recruiting team is continually looking for better ways to connect with top talent. Recently, we had the opportunity to partner with Google and test Google Beam, an immersive 3D video communication platform. In this video, Chris Riha, Director of Campus Recruiting, and Keith Bevans, EVP and Partner, share what was compelling about the experience.

There is great talent everywhere. As we expand to more campuses, we need more opportunities to meet that talent in places we might not otherwise be able to get to.

An inside look at Bain's pilot with Google Beam, an immersive 3D video communication platform.

How Bain thinks about innovation in recruiting

Traditionally, Bain has prioritized in-person recruiting. But as we expand the schools and communities we recruit from, the traditional approach can have its limits. "As a management consulting firm, our clients come to us exclusively for our people," says Chris. "We literally just can't be everywhere at once," says Keith. "We're looking for technology and innovations that help us do that."

That openness to experimentation is what drives Bain's recruiting team to test new tools and approaches. "The interviewers felt so much more confident in their ability to assess the talent and really feel like they were making quality decisions," says Chris.

Ultimately, this is about looking for ways to improve the experience for both recruiters and candidates. "There are all those little nuances of body language and eye contact," says Keith. "Being able to understand virtually how people will engage in person is critically important for their success at Bain."

For Bain's recruiting team, the work of finding great talent is ongoing. What defines that work is a commitment to staying curious, exploring new tools, and raising the bar on candidate experience. "There is great talent everywhere," says Keith. "As we expand to more campuses, we need more opportunities to meet that talent in places we otherwise might not be able to get to.”
