Sustainable Procurement Policy

At Bain, we are always driven by the “True North” values – our unwavering commitment to conducting business responsibly and sustainably across our global operations. This Sustainable Procurement Policy describes how environmental, social, and ethical considerations are integrated into Bain’s sourcing decisions and supplier relationships.

Scope
This policy applies to all Bain procurement activities and to all suppliers, contractors, and third parties providing goods or services to Bain worldwide. It complements applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations in the jurisdictions in which Bain operates.

Sustainable Procurement Approach
Bain seeks to partner with suppliers who share its commitment to responsible business practices, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement. Sustainability considerations are integrated into procurement decisions alongside quality, cost, service, and risk.

Bain’s approach reflects internationally recognized standards and incorporates a risk-based approach to identifying and managing ESG-related impacts within its supply chain.

Supplier Expectations at a Glance
Bain expects suppliers to understand and align with its core expectations for responsible and sustainable business practices. In practical terms, suppliers are expected to:

  • Operate responsibly and comply with applicable laws
  • Protect the environment and reduce impacts
  • Respect human rights and prohibit modern slavery
  • Manage risks within their supply chains
  • Engage in continuous improvement
  • Support inclusive sourcing

Environmental Responsibility
Bain expects suppliers to proactively manage environmental impacts associated with their operations and value chains in a responsible and transparent manner, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Suppliers are encouraged to:

  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy use
  • Measure, manage, and where appropriate disclose emissions and climate-related impacts
  • Use natural resources efficiently, including responsible water stewardship, particularly in water-stressed regions
  • Minimize waste and pollution
  • Support responsible product lifecycles

Bain encourages suppliers to support the transition to a low carbon economy and demonstrate transparency and continuous environmental improvement.

Social Responsibility and Human Rights
Bain is committed to respecting internationally recognized human rights. We expect all suppliers to comply with all applicable laws, in accordance with the principles of the International Labor Organization, the UN Global Compact, and the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Suppliers are expected to uphold the following standards across their operations and supply chains:

  • Prohibit forced labor, child labor, human trafficking, and modern slavery
  • Provide safe working conditions
  • Comply with wage and labor laws
  • Respect freedom of association
  • Promote inclusion and non-discrimination

Suppliers should identify and address human rights risks and support remediation where needed.

Inclusive Sourcing
Bain supports inclusive economic opportunity through its procurement practices and encourages engagement with a broad and diverse range of suppliers within its supply chain, including small and medium-sized enterprises. Where appropriate, suppliers are encouraged to support inclusive sourcing practices consistent with applicable laws and local requirements.

Ethical Business Conduct
Bain expects suppliers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in all business interactions Suppliers must comply with all relevant international and domestic laws regarding ethical business practices. Suppliers must document and demonstrate procedures that:

  • Comply with anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws
  • Avoid conflicts of interest
  • Protect confidential information
  • Conduct business ethically and transparently

Supplier Accountability and Due Diligence
Bain expects suppliers to take responsibility for implementing appropriate governance, controls, and oversight mechanisms to support alignment with this policy and applicable standards. Bain applies a risk-based due diligence approach.

Where material gaps are identified, Bain will work with suppliers on remediation. Persistent issues may impact supplier relationships.

Governance and Continuous Improvement
Bain recognizes that sustainability expectations and risks continue to evolve and is committed to maintaining effective governance and continuous improvement in its procurement practices. Bain will review and update this policy, monitor ESG risks, and engage suppliers to strengthen practices.

Reporting Concerns and Grievances
Bain encourages transparency and accountability and provides channels for suppliers and stakeholders to raise concerns related to ethical, environmental, or social issues connected to its supply chain. Concerns may be reported confidentially to GlobalLegalGroup@Bain.com.
