Investment momentum in Asia Pacific (APAC)’s private equity (PE) market eased in 2016, after a historic soaring high in 2015, a report by Bain & Company shows. Despite the slump, 2016 is still the second best year on record.

“We anticipated last year would be a much tougher deal-making environment – one that would make it more difficult for PE funds to generate market-beating returns. Despite persistent challenges, PE firms rose to the occasion and delivered impressive results,” said Suvir Varma, partner with Bain and head of the firm's Asia-Pacific PE Practice.
