Lauren Kelley, CEO of OPEXEngine, a member-based benchmarking community for software and SaaS companies, started her career interested in international studies and economics because she wanted to challenge herself. After earning her Master of International Affairs and International Political Economy from Columbia, she spent some time in Germany working on international trade policy. She later shifted into an operator role for an internet and software applications company where she found that many tech and benchmarking questions didn’t have an independent party to supply data and answers. From this observation, OPEXEngine was born.
OPEXEngine was acquired by Bain in 2021 as part of the firm’s aim to build a larger suite of capabilities to support our clients. OPEXEngine’s benchmarking platform leads the market in defining and measuring key performance indicators (KPIs) for software and SaaS companies that help support their growth, investments, decision-making, and value. Listen to Lauren share what led her to pursue entrepreneurship, what OPEXEngine’s acquisition means for Bain, and how this capability will grow within the firm's ecosystem.
