Olivier Marchal is the chairman of Bain & Company France. He is a leader in Bain's Retail and Private Equity practices.
He joined the firm in 1986 and worked successively in London and Brussels before returning to Paris. He headed the Paris office from 2001 to 2008 and was later appointed Chairman for the Europe, Middle East & Africa region.
Olivier has led assignments in a variety of industries including consumer goods, retail, industrial services and transportation. Olivier's consulting experience covers mergers & acquisitions, corporate strategy, growth strategies and cost reduction. He is also active with the firm's Private Equity practice in France, working with investments funds on investment idea generation, strategic due diligence and portfolio company improvement.
Olivier joined Bain following his graduation from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his MBA and was a John Boyer scholar. He is also a graduate of Essec in France.
Prior to his study at Wharton, he worked with Cogema in Gabon, as well as with the First National Bank of Boston as a credit analyst and loan officer.
