WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
The Investment Services Group (ISG) is an internal investment office serving Bain’s eligible Partners and Managers. The mission of ISG is to provide attractive investment opportunities and easily accessible information concerning those investments. ISG manages the operations of the funds governed by the Investment Committee, and reports through Bain’s Global CFO. Currently ISG manages 200 deals within 50 investment entities and the related reporting to 2,500 investors.
WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
The ISG Accountant is responsible for assisting with daily investment accounting transactions, cash management reporting and investment reporting to the Group’s Managers. The Experienced Accountant works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate accounting and reporting to ISG, limited partners and senior management.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Investment Accounting (50%)
- Assist with preparation of complete and accurate tax basis books and records for investment partnerships, including individual partner capital accounts
- Assist with preparation of annual audit reports
- Assist with tax compliance filings and payments
- Create supporting documentation for investment and accounting transactions
Investment Reporting (20%)
- Manage quarterly valuation documentation and annual tax reporting received from the portfolio of investments
- Assist with the quarterly preparation of valuations
- Analyze monthly activity and quarterly reports of underlying investment funds to facilitate investment reporting
- Maintain files for efficient use by Accounting team
- Manage secure access data for a variety of investment reporting portals
- Manage the Group’s relationships with the contact persons representing each of the investment sponsors and access to their respective reporting portals
Treasury Procedures (15%)
- Independently conduct daily reporting of cash activity and balances
- Review banking transactions and create supporting files
- Reconcile electronic deposits of capital call payments received
- Maintain monthly bank statements and reconciliations
Other duties as required (15%), including:
- Assist with preparing and updating management reports
- Assist with the quarterly preparation of fund of funds valuations
- Collaborate with Global Accounting, Legal and Treasury departments to help account for intercompany transactions
- Assist with responding to perpetual and ad-hoc requests from limited partners
- Assist with preparing presentation materials for Semi-Annual Investment Committee meetings
- Perform other duties & projects as assigned or as responsibilities dictate
ABOUT YOU
Required:
- Superior interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to successfully manage multiple work streams, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of various software tools including SharePoint, Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat or similar software programs
Preferred:
- Knowledge of private equity investment funds
- Working knowledge of Investran or similar software products
This role follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence at least 2 days per week.
In Boston , the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $73,500- $88,250
- Annual discretionary performance bonus
- This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation
- 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
