WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll join the Web Data Center of Excellence (CoE), a global, sector- and region-agnostic team that provides high-quality web-derived data across Bain. Using proprietary, internally built technologies and tools, the team extracts targeted data from complex web sources to support a wide range of consulting and innovation needs. The Web Data CoE is also an active contributor to the development of alternative data solutions that leverage advanced web scraping technologies.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

As a Web Scraping (Senior) Specialist in Web Data Operations, you will execute and support web scraping projects using Bain’s proprietary web data platform. You’ll apply technical expertise to deliver high-quality, accurate datasets in response to a wide range of consulting needs. You will manage your own projects, troubleshoot issues, ensure scraping accuracy, and support delivery teams with technical execution. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Web Data Project Execution 40%

• Deliver both one-off and recurring scraping projects using internal tools.
• Own quality, completeness, and timing of assigned work.    
  

Tool Utilization & Platform Fluency 20%

• Use scraping platform and related infrastructure (e.g., proxies, HTML parsers, JS selectors).
• Optimize configuration for specific sites and project types.

Delivery Coordination and Quality Assurance 25%

• Serve as technical lead for assigned projects. 
• Collaborate with fulfillment teams to align on scope, timelines, and edge case handling.
• Proactively QA results, investigate errors or data inconsistencies, and escalate tooling issues to engineering when needed.

Asset Development 15%

• Document scraping strategies and contribute to team playbooks or knowledge repositories.
• Stay up to date with web data trends, participate in internal training, and build expertise in scraping logic and methods.

ABOUT YOU

You’re a technically strong, detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys hands-on execution and is interested in deepening expertise in web data extraction.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in technical, data, or analytical field
• 2+ years working with web scraping tools or delivery of structured web data
• Experience using JavaScript, HTML, or Node.js preferred
• Familiarity with data formats (JSON, CSV), proxies, or scraping edge cases a plus
• Strong technical troubleshooting and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Clear communicator with internal delivery teams
• Interest in web data, browser behavior, and automation logic
• Self-starter with a process improvement mindset

Preferred:

• Experience using scraping frameworks or proxy management tools
• Exposure to SQL, APIs, or modern scraping architectures
