According to the study by Bain & Company, digital platforms have become part of the everyday lives of millions of consumers in less than a decade. iTunes features 28 million songs, 45,000 movies, 150,000 podcasts and 500,000 apps and Google Books also features 20 million titles over the past seven years. Facebook active users have grown 167 times, from 6 million in 2005 to one billion in 2012.

According to the report “Creating Value in the Digital Age” by Laurent Colombani of Bain & Company, global online content market is expected to reach USD 300 billion in 2016.

The research finds that demands for smart phones and tablets as well as e-reading consumers are higher in BRIC countries while demand for video games across Western Europe and North America doubled as of 2009.
