Description & Requirements

WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK

We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world’s best places to work. We are currently the top ranked consulting firm on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list and have earned the #1 overall spot a record seven times. Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don’t happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You'll join Bain's Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Divestitures Practice, a global team helping clients navigate transformative portfolio decisions across the M&A lifecycle, from strategy and due diligence to merger integration and divestitures.

Our practice brings together industry expertise, innovative solutions, and deep market insights to help clients make informed decisions and achieve lasting results. You'll collaborate with Bain partners, industry experts, regional teams, and solution leaders across the globe to develop and share insights that shape our thinking and strengthen our client impact.

WHERE YOU'LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

This is not a typical client-facing consulting role. As a member of our M&A and Divestitures Practice, you'll play a key role in developing Bain's thought leadership, intellectual property, and innovative solutions across the M&A lifecycle.

You'll help shape our perspectives on the trends transforming global industries, contribute to our flagship Global M&A Report, and develop practical tools and insights that support our consulting teams and clients.

This role offers the opportunity to combine rigorous research and analysis with creative problem-solving, commercial thinking, and collaboration with senior stakeholders across Bain's global network.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

This role has a major focus on M&A IP and product development across the M&A value chain.

Develop Bain's perspective on M&A, both globally and specific to industry/sectors/markets

Your research and contributions will shape how Bain — and the market — thinks about the deals reshaping global industries.

  • Play a key role in developing Bain’s annual Global M&A Report, our practice’s signature IP, as a thought partner to authors for 15+ pieces on M&A insights across sectors
  • Conduct primary / secondary research on M&A best practices and market trends
  • Partner with Bain Capability Network and industry teams to develop insights and implications
  • Provide analytic and content development support for IP sprints on specific topics
  • Apply project management discipline to keep deadlines on track across projects

Support innovation in Bain's M&A solutions

You'll turn client needs into sharper tools and offerings that case teams rely on to win and deliver the highest-stakes portfolio decisions.

  • Refine our approach to improve client results by developing elements of specific IP and product offerings for solutions such as M&A Strategy and Capability, Corporate Due Diligence, and Merger Integration, including materials tailored to specific sectors/industries
  • Develop a deep understanding of client needs and product roadmap, support innovation in POV, analytical insights, digital/AI tools and delivery model
  • Support commercial opportunities, proposals and case team mobilization for relevant projects.
  • Respond to case team requests across all levels (straightforward to complex) sharing best of solution content and tailoring responses to needs of the client situation

Drive marketing and sales enablement across our global team

Your work will put Bain's best M&A thinking directly in front of the clients and audiences who matter most, globally.

  • Prepare client materials and proposal content based on our latest POVs on M&A
  • Support the internal dissemination of the Global M&A Report and other IP by developing emails, webinars, and other affiliate-engagement forums
  • Contribute content for external marketing channels to amplify impact of our IP, including social media, keynote speaking engagements, client-facing webinars, etc.

ABOUT YOU

  • 5–8 years of professional services experience with an undergraduate degree, or 4–5 years of experience with an MBA or master's degree.
  • Experience, expertise, or strong interest in strategy and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop clear recommendations from complex information.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage workstreams from initial research through final delivery.

Skills and capabilities

  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate research and analysis into compelling, publication-ready thought leadership and client materials.

  • Ability to lead productive small-group meetings, contribute effectively to senior-level discussions, and communicate recommendations with clarity.
  • Familiarity with digital and AI tools, with curiosity about how emerging technologies can improve research, analysis, and solution development.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to apply lessons learned and identify opportunities to enhance ways of working.
  • A collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and support junior colleagues.

Additional requirements
