Two BCN Mexico City founding team members reflect on the culture that comes with building something new
The Bain Capability Network (BCN) is Bain's global network of experts who work directly alongside consulting case teams on client work. Mexico City is one of its newest hubs, having opened in early 2025. In this Q&A, associate Daniela Flores and manager Martin Cervantes share what it's been like to grow with the office from nearly day one.
There's something special about joining an office that's still in its early chapters. You get to be part of building something, not just working within a structure.

Can you tell us a bit about your role and your journey with BCN Mexico City so far?
Daniela: I joined BCN Mexico City in May 2025 as an analyst, just one month after the first transfers from India arrived. From day one, I've had a front-row seat to watching this office take shape from the ground up. In the time I've been here, we've moved into our own office space, welcomed nearly 100 new people, and have worked hard to introduce BCN to Mexico.
Martin: I joined in October 2025 as a manager leading a software industry team, and my experience so far has been incredibly positive, especially the opportunity to work with talented colleagues across all levels and be part of a strong, collaborative culture.

What has your career growth looked like since joining?
Daniela: Being part of a growing office has opened doors to collaborate with other Bain teams and work directly with clients, opportunities that have taught me a lot. After almost a year as an analyst, I recently transitioned into an associate role, and I couldn't be more excited for what's ahead.
Martin: My time at BCN has given me significant exposure to partners, accelerating my development and pushing me to continuously deepen my industry expertise.
How would you describe the culture and sense of community on the team?
Daniela: The culture here is something special. Everyone is open, approachable, and genuinely willing to help. What stands out most is how much people enjoy sharing knowledge and experiences, you're constantly learning something new from the people around you. And with new people joining every month, the team just keeps getting better.
Martin: The culture truly reflects “One Bain,” where everyone is willing to support each other and there’s a strong, shared commitment to ensuring no one falls short.
What does collaboration with global consulting teams look like from your seat?
Daniela: Being in this office has given me the chance to work alongside people in India, Mexico, and other countries, all at once. There's something genuinely exciting about that. You're not just solving a problem; you're doing it with people who bring different perspectives and working styles to the table. Those interactions have pushed me to think differently and communicate more clearly, and that's made a real difference in how I work.
Martin: Collaborating with global teams, particularly through software working group discussions, has been exciting, offering real-time insights into client perspectives and where the industry is heading.

What would you tell someone considering BCN Mexico City?
Daniela: I'd tell them that there's something special about joining an office that's still in its early chapters. You get to be part of building something, not just working within a structure that already exists. And the people you get to build it with make all the difference. Watching this team grow from almost nothing in just one year has been one of the most valuable things for me.
Martin: BCN Mexico City is growing rapidly, creating unique opportunities to innovate, build new capabilities, and actively shape how the office contributes to Bain’s broader mission.
