Michael Egan is an expert partner focused on innovation, based in our Singapore office. He leads our Asia-Pacific Product & Experience Innovation team.
Michael has more than 25 years of experience in a wide range of technology-driven industries in the United States, Australia and Asia. He holds extensive digital, strategic product development and operations expertise and has driven numerous turnarounds of public entities, grown companies organically, completed over 40 acquisitions, and optimized marketing and product development performance in a range of both B2B and B2C environments.
He applies his deep understanding of how technology can transform business performance as the Asia Pacific Product & Experience Innovation leader, helping a wide range of companies build digital innovation capabilities through hands-on experiences.
Prior to Bain, Michael was CEO and Board Director at Spark Networks, where he turned the company around by rebuilding the entire management team, refocusing the company on delivering successful user experiences and products, and driving significant improvement in profitability. This included taking one of their core brands from a negative gross margin to a 70% margin and enabling the company to be consistently EBITDA positive.
He also spent seven years at Internet Brands, playing a senior executive role in growing and transforming the business from a media-dependent entity focused on a small number of brands to the largest provider of online, subscription-based marketing services to the medical and legal industries and a sale to KKR for over $1B.
He holds an MBA from University of California, Los Angeles, an MA in political science from Northern Illinois University and a BA in history from University of California, Santa Cruz.
