Richard Barrett is a member of our Energy & Natural Resources and Advanced Manufacturing & Services practices.
He brings over 15 years of hands-on energy industry experience across EMEA. His industry experience spans project development and execution—including design, build, and operational handover—as well as asset management roles involving collaboration with major equipment manufacturers and EPC firms. His consulting experience includes capital project delivery, operational excellence, operating model transformation, strategy refreshers, and M&A support for industrial and private equity clients.
Prior to joining Bain in 2019, Richard began his career at BP in 2008 in engineering and project delivery roles.
Richard holds an MBA from INSEAD and a first-class master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Imperial College London. He is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (Engineering Council UK) and a registered European Engineer (FEANI).
Outside of work, he enjoys travelling and spending time with family in the UK and the US, where his wife is originally from. They are the proud parents of two energetic, multicultural toddlers.
