Michael Sion

Michael Sion is a member of our Aerospace & Defense and Private Equity practices.

He advises corporate and investor clients across aerospace & defense and industrials with focus on strategy, commercial due diligence, and value creation. His work spans commercial aerospace, defense, government services, space, and adjacent sectors, where he supports both leading companies and private capital investors. He has directed several strategy and operations engagements with leading A&D companies and led hundreds of commercial due diligence projects.

Michael has authored several Bain reports on the aerospace and defense supply base and the commercial aerospace outlook. He is the author of the 2026 Aerospace Industries Association report "The State of Investment in US Defense." His perspectives have been featured in the Financial Times, Breaking Defense, Aviation Week, Defense and Aerospace Report Podcast, and other media outlets.

Michael was a founding member of Bain's Washington, DC office after working in the New York office. Before joining Bain, he started his career at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and DFI International, focusing on strategy and policy issues in national security. He also serves on the Board of Directors of EveryMind, a mental health services not-for-profit organization.

He holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in international affairs from George Washington University.
