Cate Hight is a leader in our Sustainability and Responsibility and Energy and Natural Resources practices, with a particular focus in energy transition.
She holds deep expertise in carbon accounting, industrial emissions, climate risk assessment, international negotiations, coalition building, and regulatory development.
Cate most recently served as COO of the Mission Possible Partnership, an alliance of climate leaders focused on decarbonizing heavy industry and transport.
She previously led the development and deployment of MiQ, a first-of-its-kind product standard for natural gas differentiated according to its upstream methane emissions. She also led the US Environmental Protection Agency’s work on carbon market development, led the development of key greenhouse gas regulations, and co-authored the annual US Inventory of GHG Emissions and Sinks.
Cate additionally co-authored Pricing Carbon, a book assessing the first trading period of the world’s first international carbon market: the EU ETS.
She holds a master's in public policy from the University of Chicago and a B.A. from Washington and Lee University.
In her personal time, Cate enjoys hiking, gardening, architecture, tennis, and spending time with her husband and three daughters.
