Cate Hight is a member of our Energy Transition practice, where she supports clients on a variety of challenges, ranging from strategy and innovation to operations and transformation.
Cate works with a wide variety of industries including oil and gas, utilities and renewables, chemicals, manufacturing, technology, financial services and private equity. She also leads the firm’s impact investments in non-profit organizations focused on accelerating energy transition.
Prior to joining Bain, Cate served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Mission Possible Partnership, an alliance of climate leaders focused on decarbonizing heavy industry and transport. She joined MPP from the founding organization Rocky Mountain Institute (now RMI), where she led the development of the MiQ standard for low-emissions natural gas and helped establish the Climate-Aligned Industries program.
During her decade at the US Environmental Protection Agency, she led the oil and gas program of the Global Methane Initiative, participated in the international negotiations leading to the Paris agreement, and developed greenhouse gas regulations for heavy industry, power and transport.
Cate is a widely published author and speaker on energy transition, corporate transformation and sustainability topics. She holds a master's in public policy from the University of Chicago and a B.A. from Washington and Lee University. In her personal time, Cate enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her husband, three daughters, and too many pets.
