Sobre Truman

Why Bain?

There are three main reasons I chose Bain, and continue to choose Bain. The company has the network and deep client trust necessary for venture work. It isn’t possible to innovate without trust, and Bain has already earned that from its clients through the exceptional results it delivers. There's also the fact that at this firm, we stay true to our principles and make client-centric decisions that guarantee we’ll be successful. And of course, we’re always innovating, always improving what we offer. For me, this creates the perfect work environment.

How have you grown in your role?

I was Bain’s first innovation expert in China, which meant initially, I was an individual contributor. As we grew, I transitioned to a manager position with a team. Throughout this process, I received extensive support from leadership. Partners and Innovation & Design leaders entrusted me with the responsibility to build things out. I was also included in many senior manager-specific trainings which helped me grow from an expert in a few areas to a leader overseeing many groups.

What work are you most proud of?

One case I’m thinking of exemplifies the incredible outcomes we help clients achieve and showcases how we work. This client had a product and was about to enter China. Bain formed a team of consultants and innovation experts and together, we successfully launched the product line. We designed the physical product, created the brand identity and packaging, devised the marketing strategy, and oversaw all operations and supply chain considerations. We worked using Agile and SCRUM and empowered the client to do the same, even after the project was complete.

How would you describe Bain’s culture?

The saying, “A Bainie never lets another Bainie fail” perfectly captures the firm’s mentality. The strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork fosters an environment that encourages individuals to grow and improve. They know there’s always someone willing to lend a hand. It creates a lot of trust. And trust is the most important component for us to do our work.
