Phyllis Yale has been a leader in building Bain's Healthcare & Life Sciences practice for over 40 years.
She works with healthcare payers and providers across the continuum of care, and frequently advises the world's leading private equity firms on their investments in the healthcare sector.
Phyllis has served in a number of leadership roles at Bain, including serving on the firm's Management Board, chairing the worldwide Compensation and Promotion Committee and chairing the Nominating Committee. She ran Bain's Boston office, the largest in the Bain system, as well as the entire East Coast for six years. She now works part-time for Bain and devotes all of that time to client work.
Outside of Bain, Phyllis is on the boards of Bristol Myers Squibb (NYSE), DaVita (NYSE), Aledade, Inc, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. She previously chaired the Kindred Healthcare board and served on the boards of National Surgical Hospitals, Value Options, and NeighborCare. Phyllis is currently advising 3 healthcare startups: Tomorrow Health (home care), Hero Health (home medication management), and Montai (a Flagship Pioneering life sciences company). She serves on the non-profit boards of The Trustees of Reservations, the oldest Conservation and Preservaton organization in Massachusetts, as well as a number of advisory boards, including the Advisory Board for the HBS Healthcare Initiative, the Executive Council for the Department of Health Policy and Management of the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.
Phyllis received a Lifetime Achievement award from Consulting Magazine and was named by Working Mother magazine as one of the top 25 working mothers in 1999. In 2023 she was awarded NACD New England's Director of the Year award, for Leadership in Corporate Governance.
She earned an MBA from Harvard Business School with honors and is a graduate of Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics magna cum laude.
