Phyllis Yale has been a leader in building Bain's Healthcare & Life Sciences practice for over 30 years.
Since joining Bain in 1982, Phyllis has led work with clients on issues including competitive strategy development, marketing strategy implementation, cost and quality management and mergers and acquisitions. She works with healthcare payers, providers and medical device companies and frequently advises the world's leading private equity firms on their investments in the healthcare sector
Phyllis has served in a number of leadership roles at Bain, including serving on the firm's Management Board, chairing the worldwide Compensation and Promotion Committee and chairing the Nominating Committee. She ran Bain's Boston office, the largest in the Bain system, as well as the entire East Coast for six years. She now devotes all of her time to client work.
Outside of Bain, Phyllis is Chair of the Board of Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE) and Chair of the Board of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. She also serves on the board of National Surgical Hospitals, Inc. She serves on the non-profit boards of The Bridgespan Group and Cradles to Crayons as well as a number of advisory boards, including the Advisory Board for the HBS Healthcare Initiative, the Executive Council for the Department of Health Policy and Management of the Harvard Chan School of Public Health and the Governing Board of the John Adams Innovation Institute.
Phyllis received a Lifetime Achievement award from Consulting Magazine and was named by Working Mother magazine as one of the top 25 working mothers in 1999. She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, including the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos.
Prior to joining Bain, Phyllis was a commercial lending officer at Citibank.
She earned an MBA from Harvard Business School with honors and is a graduate of Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics magna cum laude.
