The representation of women in the Gulf reaches 6% in leadership positions, but there is a disparity between sectors

During the launch of the "Advancing Gender Parity in the Middle East Workforce" report, Bain Middle East's Chief DEI Officer, Anne-Laure Maluzat, shared with CNBC Arabia key findings from the report which focuses on women's participation in the workforce in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, disclosing that women currently represent approximately 6% of the workforce. In comparison, the global average is 20% in leadership roles.

She also highlighted sector disparities, with women well-represented in finance and retail but facing unique challenges in other sectors. Anne-Laure also emphasized the significant obstacles women encounter in job retention, career progression, and assuming leadership roles within companies.

Additionally, she noted that the governments of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE are actively supporting efforts to promote gender parity.
