Matthew Leybold

Matthew Leybold is a member of our Enterprise Technology practice.

He has over 15 years of experience driving technology-enabled business transformation across industries. His work focuses on technology strategy, architecture, and enablement—spanning cloud and IT infrastructure, enterprise and emerging technology, digital transformation, and large-scale AI adoption. He has led complex, multi-phase programs in financial services, including core platform modernization, cloud strategy and adoption, data localization, sourcing transformation, RegTech compliance, and enterprise technology redesign.

In the advanced manufacturing and aerospace & defense industries, he has guided finance, supply chain, and logistics transformations that have delivered capability uplift, cost efficiency, and operational risk reduction.

Functionally, he brings deep expertise in cloud, data center, and IT infrastructure strategy; IT service management and operations, including site reliability engineering, financial management, and AIOps; and enterprise architecture and core systems modernization. He has also led strategic alliances with leading cloud service and software providers, including Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Salesforce.

Before joining Bain, he held senior roles at other global consulting firms and served as an officer in the Army, leading teams across armor, infantry, and cyber operations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics from Christopher Newport University and a bachelor’s degree in business finance and management from Liberty University.
