WHAT YOU'LL DO
We are seeking a Manager to join our Helsinki office in a full-time, fixed-term role through December
2026. This position plays a central role in ensuring effective staffing, strong professional development
processes, and balanced capacity management for our consulting population
As Manager, Staffing & Professional Development, you will work closely with the Helsinki Local
Lead and partner group, all consultant cohort levels and the broader Nordic Talent and Staffing
network to drive high-quality staffing decisions and monitor all professional development and
performance processes. You will have direct report responsibility. The role requires strong ownership,
independent judgment, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. The Manager will report to our
Nordic Vice President, Talent.
This is a high-impact role at the heart of Bain’s consulting operations in Helsinki.
Key responsibilities
Staffing Allocation and capacity management
- Own and drive the end-to-end staffing process for the Helsinki consulting population,
- ensuring optimal deployment of people across opportunities.
- Ensure timely, balanced case team allocations, aligning client needs, business priorities,
- individual development objectives and overall utilization targets.
- Participate in local and Nordic staffing problem solving sessions to align on priorities and
- resource planning.
- Build strong relationships with consultants to proactively understand career goals and
- development needs, most closely working together with the senior cohorts (4-10 years of
- experience).
- Proactively monitor consultant availability and pipeline demand to anticipate staffing gaps or
- surpluses and maintain high, sustainable utilization.
- Coordinate cross-office staffing requests in collaboration with the Nordic and EMEA staffing
- network.
- Manage vacation planning for assigned populations, balancing individual preferences with
- business requirements.
Professional Development & Reviews
- Ensure timely triggering and quality control of case feedback and review processes
- throughout the year.
- Lead Professional Development review meetings for assigned populations.
- Partner closely with local leadership and PD teams to ensure fair, consistent, and rigorous
- performance and promotion processes.
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality, objectivity, and fairness in all performance-related
- discussions.
Talent Management
- Provide line management for a junior staffing team member, offering ongoing coaching,
- development support, and close day-to-day guidance through continuous alignment on
- staffing and professional development developments.
- Be a sounding board to leadership and work closely on talent topics, i.e. retention risks or
- people movements impacting capacity (e.g., externships, leaves of absence, transfers).
- Contribute to building office culture in close alignment with leadership.
- Lead onboarding staffing integration for new consulting hires.
ABOUT YOU
- At least 7+ years of experience in talent management, staffing, HR, consulting operations, or
- a similar function—ideally within professional services or a fast-paced, high-performance
- environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working with senior leaders and
- consultants
- Excellent judgment and discretion when handling sensitive performance and career matters.
- Structured and analytical mindset with the ability to balance multiple priorities
- simultaneously.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented, and comfortable working independently without direct team
- management responsibility.
- Strong communication skills in both Finnish and English are preferred.
