Jon van der Veen is the leader of our global Travel and Leisure sector, and is a member of our Retail and M&A and Divestitures practices. He has been with Bain for ~15 years, working across the United States, the UK, Europe, Japan and broader southeast Asia.
While at Bain, Jon has advised clients across a broad range of Travel and Retail sectors and formats, including hospitality, location-based entertainment (e.g., theme parks), airlines, cruise lines, travel intermediaries, grocery, mass retail and specialty retail. He also advises our Private Equity clients on transactions and PE-backed M&A.
His experience includes leading engagements in organic and adjacency growth, customer strategy, AI-led transformation, pricing, brand and marketing, and merger integration. Recently, Jon has helped author many of Bain's points of view on travel, including AI disruption and product reinvention as customer discovery and booking journeys are changing rapidly.
He previously worked for another top consulting firm, and was also a financial analyst for Quantum. Jon holds an MBA from Georgetown University and bachelor’s degrees in both mathematics and philosophy from the University of Washington.
