WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You’ll join Bain’s Technology Solutions Group (TSG), partnering closely with HR, talent stakeholders, and cross-functional technology teams to deliver scalable and innovative enterprise solutions. In this highly collaborative environment, you’ll help shape and optimize Bain’s Workday ecosystem, ensuring our people systems support both firm strategy and exceptional employee experiences. You’ll work alongside technical experts, business leaders, and end users to drive impactful product enhancements, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
As the Workday Product Owner, you will serve as the strategic and technical lead responsible for maximizing the value of Bain’s Workday investment. You will combine strong product ownership capabilities with hands-on Workday expertise to deliver scalable solutions aligned with firm and HR priorities. This role requires close collaboration with HR systems teams, IT partners, and business stakeholders to define roadmaps, implement enhancements, and continuously improve system functionality and user experience.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Product Planning & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and manage the product roadmap and backlog for Workday Core HR, Absence, and Performance
- Define product features and prioritize development efforts, balancing technical and business requirements
- Build strong understanding of user needs and translate them into actionable product requirements
- Serve as a lead member of system project teams, providing expertise on system design and configuration
- Translate business processes into scalable system solutions and workflows
- Document system specifications and workflow processes
- Develop testing plans and facilitate system testing activities
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure technology supports evolving business processes
Configuration & Delivery
- Lead internal and external configuration teams
- Test prototypes and newly launched features with users and incorporate feedback into future roadmap planning
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies
- Provide guidance to development teams regarding technical trade-offs and solution design
- Execute hands-on Workday configuration for new processes and plans, including use of Workday’s calculation engine
- Collaborate with IT teams on integrations and technical dependencies
- Design reports using logic and conditional rules to support business needs
- Drive creative technology solutions using Agile methodologies
- Develop training materials and facilitate user training sessions
Service & Support
- Lead change management strategies and communications to support adoption of new functionality
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, surveys, workshops, and focus groups as needed
- Monitor global business needs and recommend aligned process and technology solutions
- Manage Workday system upgrades, including testing, dependency analysis, and risk identification
- Conduct system health checks, data audits, and performance testing
- Maintain system documentation, policies, procedures, and reporting materials
- Collaborate closely with members of the Workday and broader Bain technology teams
ABOUT YOU
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in HR systems, product ownership, or enterprise technology roles
- 3+ years of hands-on Workday experience supporting Core HCM, Absence, and Performance modules
- Experience with SaaS system configuration and Agile delivery methodologies
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive consensus across varying levels of seniority
- Experience translating complex business needs into scalable technology solutions
- Vendor management experience, including accountability management and issue resolution
Preferred Qualifications
- Agile Product Owner certification
- Experience leading enterprise-scale HR technology initiatives
- Experience developing training and change management materials
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This role follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence at least one day per week
- Travel may be required based on business needs
U.S. Compensation Information
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best-in-class benefits package.
Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles.
The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:
- In Boston, MA, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $147,250 - $176,750
- In Chicago, IL, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $141,000 - $169,250
Placement within these ranges will vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, and skill level.
