Share your journey to Bain.
By the end of my sophomore year of college, it felt like everyone around me had their career ambitions completely figured out, and I was overwhelmed. After completing an internship in an unrelated field after my junior year, I applied to Bain for a full-time post-grad role, attracted by their philosophy of hiring students who excel regardless of academic background (I was a double major in accounting and English). After graduating, I deferred my Bain start date by a year to accept a Fulbright Scholarship to teach English in Southeastern Europe. I started at Bain in September 2024 and have been learning and growing ever since!
How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?
I knew that Bain was the right place for me because of the culture. When I spoke with people at Bain, I got the sense that they actually enjoyed going to work in the mornings (which felt more rare than it should have been). Since starting, I've loved the emphasis on in-person connectivity, the constant focus on professional development, and most of all, the positive and friendly attitude that permeates our Chicago office. It's great to be surrounded at all times by brilliant, driven people - but it's immeasurably better when those same people are fun to be around.
Do you feel like you can do impactful work at Bain? What opportunities excite you?
I have been blown away by my ability to make an impact at Bain from my first few months as a new associate consultant. From working on news-headlining organizational transformations to evaluating investments in extremely niche industries, it has been very rewarding to see the work that I do used as the basis for decisions made at the highest levels of various companies. At the team level, I appreciate the constant encouragement to speak up and the space given for team members to share ideas, regardless of tenure.
