WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
Provide leadership and support for all staff programs including staffing, performance management in collaboration with relevant program manager, and integration for the Private Equity Group ringfence in the Chicago office. Successful implementation of the various efforts and initiatives requires strong program management skills, effective communication, thorough knowledge of Bain’s policies and procedures, and authentic relationship building with Bain community members of all levels.
WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
This role reports into a member of the office Program Management team but will interact across the PEG ringfence and leadership team, the entire Program Management team, the Office Head, the Business Operations team, and the Human Resources team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
PEG Program Management
Staffing and Professional development
- Continuously manage Associate Consultants, Consultants, and Managers in PEG to maintain resources at target; coordinating rotation dates based on business and PD needs
- Ensure PEG resources are aligned with office pyramid
- Onboard new team members to PEG across all Associate Consultant and Consultant tenure levels
- Manage capacity 3-6 weeks out to highlight potential surge needs and identify outages/backfills
- Routinely staff teams to projects solving for outages and potential PD needs
- Build and maintain persistent teams and retainers, ensure teams are balanced across tenure, strength, PEG experience, and turnover
- Coordinate with PEG LT to identify the right team for each project (incl. outages, finding solutions to staff large teams); make recommendations and judgement calls based on the needs of the business
- Train and onboard new Team Leads to PEG
- Engage with PEG Chicago ringfence leads on case pipeline, case fits, evolving preferences/specialization, to help inform staffing decisions and shape case pipeline in partnership with North America PEG Ops
- Help manage pipeline of potential PEG Team Leads
- Coordinate and execute targeted case interventions with PEG team leads for challenging cases
- Consistently check in with team leads to ensure appropriate team strength and align on necessary changes
- Routinely discusses and reports back key metrics (e.g., CTSU) to PEG LT
- Flag and proposes next steps for ‘tricky situations’ to both PEG LT and broader staffing team
- Coordinate process for team lead and bundled PEG reviews; ensure clear and appropriate feedback is delivered to PEG ringfence team leads and members in a timely fashion
- Calibrate ratings across all PEG Associate Consultants, Consultants, and Managers
PEG Operations
PEG Leadership Team
- Manage and present materials at PEG team lead meetings; drive discussions on key topics with LT
- Drive agenda and coordinates PEG All Hands meetings with full PEG Chicago ringfence
- Identify priorities and key strategic initiatives across Chicago PEG pillars, including driving progress against stated goals and priorities
- Coordinate focus groups on key topics across different tenure levels to address pain points
Training
- Participate in NA regional training sessions
- Support innovation and improvement within our PEG training operations
- Lead targeted training sessions (intern training, ad-hoc topical sessions, etc.)
- Lead 1:1 coaching sessions for AC-Cs stepping into new roles, as required or requested (island, supervisor, model, etc.), as required
Tools & reporting
- Review and analyze key metrics
- Track Chicago PEG Key metrics, report back to PEG LT (e.g., select NPS dedicated cuts, capacity email, weekly CTSU, periodic All Hands reporting on progress against key initiatives, etc.)
- Own, oversees, and manages annual PEG budget and plan
PEG Connectivity
- Point person for PEG distributed leadership model (Affiliations, Social, Meetings), including convening periodic distributed LT check-ins (all initiatives), tracking and “nudging” on progress, and evolving initiative leadership over time (new co-chairs, etc.)
- Oversees calendar of PEG activities and assists in delivering high quality PEG events
ABOUT YOU
This role follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence at least 3 days per week.
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Liberal Arts, related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required. MBA preferred.
- A minimum of 6 years professional experience is required, 2 years progressive experience in management required, preferably in a consulting role
- Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required
- Deep knowledge of Bain & Company, Inc. and the roles of ACs, Consultants and Managers
- Strong customer service, meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills necessary
- Strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills
- Ability to deal with highly confidential information appropriately; ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint is required
U.S. Compensation Information
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below).
Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:
- In Chicago, IL, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $164,500-197,500; placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level
- Annual discretionary performance bonus
- This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation
- 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
