Share your journey to Bain.

I spent a summer interning for the economic development wing of the NYC government. Near the end of the summer, I realized I was basically doing strategy/consulting work for them. Identifying strategic partners, sizing market opportunities, and recommending areas to pursue investment. I realized that this work could be even more impactful and fast-paced in the private sector. So, I decided to apply for a Bain AC Internship in Fall 2019. The rest is history!

“Build Your Own Bain” means creating a thriving career on your own terms. How have you been able to “Build Your Own Bain?”

The breadth of case opportunities in the San Francisco Office has allowed me to try different industries and capabilities that interest me. From Healthcare, Education, Tech, and Private Equity, I've been able to explore industries that excite me by doing work that matters.

Also, I was able to spend 4 months fully dedicated to Recruiting. This was a super fun experience helping others see the potential a career at Bain has to offer.

What advice would you give a candidate who is interested in recruiting for consulting?

For candidates interested in recruiting for consulting, I would recommend a few things:

  1. Talk to Consultants! They can tell you what the job is like
  2. Understand the structure and pacing of a case interview. Case interviews are a majority of the interview process, and feeling like you can take on any case will give you confidence going into them.
  3. Be sure to craft a story through your initial application (resume, transcript, cover letter). What areas or industries excite you? What experience do you have that makes you ready for consulting? And why does consulting fit into your larger academic and career goals?
