I joined Bain out of undergrad at Dartmouth, after a summer of guiding and a fall of road-tripping the US in a 1966 Ford truck camper. Before Bain, I worked in both Tech and Growth Equity. I loved my experience in Growth Equity and wanted to get more deeply involved in the strategy and operations of interesting companies like my previous investment targets. Bain was the perfect place to do that.
How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?
I had conversations with Bainies during the recruiting process that made me feel sure Bain was the right place for me. These conversations conveyed the collaborative, ambitious, supportive, and mentorship-driven work environment that I have come to love at Bain. Plus, I just thought the people were fun and demonstrated genuine connection with one another.
“Build Your Own Bain” means creating a thriving career on your own terms.
How have you been able to “Build Your Own Bain?”
I've “Built [my] Own Bain” in many ways, through Externship, “Take 2,” and an office transfer. I first took advantage of Bain's Externship program, finding a Strategic Projects Director role at a fast-growing consumer outdoors brand, DECKED, where I worked for 7 months while living near their headquarters in Sun Valley, ID. I have also used Bain's “Take 1” and “Take 2” leave of absence programs to travel the world and spend time with family. From surfing my way down the coast of South Africa to skiing in my grandfather's hometown in Japan, building my own Bain has enabled once-in-a-lifetime adventures across the world and accommodated my ever-changing life with an office transfer from Seattle to New York.

One of my favorite projects at Bain focused on an area of passion for me: the outdoors and protecting our planet. From the ground up, my Bain team and I built a >$100B investment firm's foundational perspective and initial targets in the Climate Tech space. It was an impactful opportunity to shape that client's investments for years to come.
