Share your journey to Bain.

I joined Bain three years ago after completing my MBA at Melbourne Business School. Before that, I worked in technology consulting and later as a Strategy Manager. With a background in computer science engineering, I began my career in tech but grew increasingly interested in how businesses operate at a strategic level. That curiosity led me to pursue an MBA, where I developed a passion for strategy and ultimately decided to pivot my career—bringing me to Bain.

How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?

After my MBA, I was eager to join a top-tier consulting firm to strengthen my strategy toolkit. Bain stood out, not just for the breadth of industries it serves and complex challenges it tackles, but also for its people. While researching firms, I reached out to Bain team members and was struck by how sharp, supportive, and genuinely invested they were in helping me succeed. That sense of collaborative culture made Bain feel like the right fit, both professionally and personally.

“Build Your Own Bain” means creating a thriving career on your own terms. How have you been able to “Build Your Own Bain?”

“Building Your Own Bain” means something different to everyone, and I’ve always felt supported to shape my own path. I love to travel and find that regular breaks help me recharge and perform at my best. One of the things I value most is Bain’s flexibility, which has allowed me to take extended time off each year—either between cases or over the holidays. It also gives me the chance to spend quality time with my family overseas. That balance between work and personal wellbeing has been essential to sustaining my performance and overall happiness.

What is the culture of the Melbourne office like? What made you choose this office?

The Melbourne office has a warm, welcoming culture that makes coming into the office, something to look forward to. I love catching up with my Melbourne colleagues, as well as connecting with team members visiting from other Bain offices across Australia and globally. Fridays are especially fun—with afternoon cake and the drinks trolley making its way through the floors, bringing everyone together to kick off the weekend. Being from Melbourne, choosing this office felt natural—but it’s the people here who make it truly special.

Can you describe how your engineering background helps your career at Bain?

My engineering background gave me a strong foundation in structured thinking and problem-solving—skills that are central to the work we do at Bain. It’s helped me approach complex problems with clarity and a data-driven mindset. That technical expertise also proves valuable in technology-focused cases, where I can draw on both my academic training and industry experience.

How has Bain supported you in your career and helped you Be More?

Bain has been incredibly supportive in shaping my career. The staffing team has consistently helped me find opportunities that align with my goals, and the firm’s training—both local and global—has played a key role in accelerating my growth. These sessions are not just skill-building—they’re opportunities to learn from peers and broaden my perspective both personally and professionally. What also stands out for me is the flexibility Bain offers: from externships and global transfers to extended time off for travel or personal pursuits, the firm empowers you to build a path that works for you.
