A recent Bain & Company study revealed that the confidence gap between men and women is largely due to "frontline managers" whom women perceive as unsupportive of their career aspirations. "The ability to really move the needle is if you change the way in which you think about the midlevel manager and prepare them to be inspirational leaders rather than task organizers," said Bain Partner Julie Coffman, who co-wrote the study and chairs Bain's Global Women's Leadership Council.
