How did you get started at Bain?

I’m a T’12 and did my undergrad in my native Scotland at the University of Glasgow. I spent my summer internship at a mid-market PE and but decided to join Bain upon graduating and never left.

What do you find most energizing about your work?

There are three things about my work that get me up in the morning:

  1. Being able to support my clients and help them grow their consumer brands
  2. Motivating a large group of people to find answers to problems that haven’t been answered before
  3. Helping both my clients and colleagues develop and grow into the best versions of themselves

Outside of work, what do you like to do?

Outside of Bain, I follow the New England Revolution soccer team, Scottish rugby, and love to get into the mountains whenever I can.  My wife is a pediatrician and has a natural food start-up, so we have fun juggling our toddler son, eternal puppy, and rewarding careers.

What would you encourage students to do while at business school?

I would encourage everyone to take up reflective writing so you had something tangible to revisit after graduating. Your time in business school goes so quickly and you don’t always have time to live in the moment. Forcing an hour or so each week to journal your thoughts can be very rewarding.
