Firms target earlier stage health-care companies as deal flow surges

Private equity's eagerness for healthcare deals has reached a crescendo, with last year's deal flow in the sector globally hitting a three-year high of nearly $30 billion, according to Bain & Company.

"Healthcare is such an important part of the economy in the US and globally, it impacts society in such a fundamental way that it is hard for a private equity firm of scale not to have some part of its portfolio in health care," said Nirad Jain, a Bain partner and co-author of Bain's latest report on global healthcare private equity.
