Press release
LONDON – Sept 16, 2019 – Bain & Company has expanded its European private equity team with two new hires. Dmitry Podpolny, an expert in healthcare and private equity, has joined the firm as a partner in London, while Mark Disston, an activist investor and private equity expert, joins as a principal in Amsterdam.
Dmitry has more than a decade of consulting experience, with a particular focus on healthcare-related transactions. He worked on deals in the European healthcare space, covering buy-side due diligence, post-acquisition support to portfolio companies, and sell-side support with many of Europe's leading investors.
He is also passionate about working with emerging leaders in pharma and med tech, and has served numerous fast-growing companies across the globe. Beyond M&A, Dmitry is experienced in corporate finance, corporate strategy, R&D strategy, product strategy and launch, and medical affairs. Prior to joining Bain & Company, Dmitry worked as a partner at another management consultancy.
“Dmitry will reinforce our growing team at the intersection of healthcare and private equity,” said Emilio Domingo, head of Bain & Company’s UK Private Equity practice. “He brings a wealth of expertise to the team, and will continue to build our impact with our private equity clients from due diligence to scale transformations of their healthcare portfolio companies.”
Mark joins Bain & Company from Marcato Capital, an activist investment fund. In addition to his role leading investments in public companies, he has experience as a private equity investor at Credit Suisse. Mark has deep expertise in actively engaging with management teams and boards to improve company performance and drive shareholder return. Among his areas of focus are corporate strategy, due diligence, M&A and driving value post-investment. From a sector perspective, Mark has a particular interest in technology and business services.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dmitry and Mark to our global team,” said Christophe De Vusser, head of Bain & Company’s Private Equity practice in EMEA. “Dmitry’s proven success in the growing area of healthcare private equity and Mark’s hands-on experience as an investor serve to strengthen the capabilities of our practice even further and provide the best expertise to our clients across Europe.”
