Job Summary
The Reporting & Analytics Associate is a techno functional role based in Bain’s GBS Gurugram office and is part of a team which provides business intelligence services (including insights and analytics) on key metrics to global functions (not external clients) at Bain.
The major responsibilities of the role include supporting recurring and ad-hoc analytics on key metrics as required by Bain's leadership, using automated data processing and visualization tools by:
Building new workflows using Alteryx/Python/SQL/Tableau Prep (or other EDA tools) • Building new dashboards using Tableau/Power BI/Advanced Excel (or other visualization tools)
Refreshing and maintaining dashboards on Tableau/ Power BI, along with optimization of Alteryx /Tableau Prep workflow
Developing expertise on key Bain data sources to deliver effective output
Using basic Generative AI to brainstorm and optimize operational tasks
Principal Accountabilities and % of time
Operational Execution
- Applies and builds technical expertise of Data Visualization and Data Analysis (EDA) tools like Alteryx, Python, SQL ,Tableau, Power BI etc.
- Help with the creation of basic reporting solutions using tools like Alteryx and Tableau, focusing on learning, and supporting the team in routine tasks.
- Assist in automating simple, repetitive tasks in reporting processes using Python and SQL. Focus on gaining experience and understanding basic automation techniques
- Take responsibility for completing small, well-defined tasks within projects. Ensure tasks are completed as instructed by more senior team members.
Problem solving
- Assist in collecting and preparing data for analysis and reporting, ensuring data is clean and ready for use in projects.
- Begin learning and applying basic best practices in automation and reporting, focusing on accuracy and consistency in work.
- Participate in team brainstorming sessions and offer ideas for simple improvements or innovations, focusing on learning the creative process.
- Work closely with Senior Associates and Senior Specialists, applying feedback and learning from more experienced team members.
- Build basic understanding of Bain business processes
Team Activities
- Actively participate in team activities, training sessions, and meetings to build knowledge and understand the team’s processes.
- Assist in the smooth operation of the team’s activities by helping with routine tasks and learning about the team’s culture and processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn and apply solutions to data and reporting tasks under supervision.
- Ability to contribute to simple tasks within the development of reporting solutions and data analytics projects, with guidance from senior team members.
- Developing communication skills, with a focus on working effectively within a team and understanding basic technical instructions.

- Understanding of basic data structures and algorithms, with the ability to apply these concepts in simple tasks under supervision.

Preferred:
- Basic understanding of SQL, with some experience in data management tasks, query optimization, and supporting schema design.
- Knowledge of Python, with an emphasis on automating basic tasks and a growing understanding of data processing.
- Familiarity with basic features of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and analytics frameworks (e.g., Pandas, NumPy), with a focus on learning and development.
- Experience in assisting with simple AI model tasks, such as text classification, with direct supervision.
Experience
Required:
- 2-5 years (graduates) or 0-3 years (post-graduates) of relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting solutions, with exposure to tools like Excel, Alteryx, Tableau and Python
- Basic experience working in a data-focused environment, with an emphasis on supporting routine reporting tasks and learning from more experienced team members.
Education OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Required: First class undergraduate/post graduate from leading and reputed colleges
Preferred: Concentration in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics, Business Administration, Finance, Business Analytics, or Market Research is strongly preferred
