WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH


You’ll join Bain’s Global Retail Practice team, one of Bain’s flagship industry groups recognized for its passion, energy, and innovation. Our practice spans grocery, apparel and footwear (including luxury fashion), specialty retail, restaurants and food service, and travel and leisure. We work with leading players and disruptors alike, including those reshaping the future of retail through digital transformation and new business models.


As part of the Retail Practice, you’ll also collaborate closely with Bain’s global Product, Practice, and Knowledge (PPK) teams, including Centers of Expertise, data scientists, developers, and external partners such as OpenAI.


WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM


You’ll be a Practice Consultant focusing on core retail products — from category leadership and customer-led merchandising to supplier negotiations and supply chain solutions. Your work will strengthen Bain’s IP and toolkit development, accelerate case delivery, and directly support client impact in one of our fastest-growing sectors.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

    Contribute to product development, competitive scans, and next-generation offerings (including AI-enabled solutions)

    Build and maintain compelling IP, playbooks, and sales collateral to equip case teams with proven solutions

    Support product commercialization through client meetings, proposals, and go-to-market initiatives

    Provide rapid-response support to case teams in relevant retail topics

    Support product reputation through publications, marketing strategies, and external network building

    Support ongoing product operations, including Bain.com updates, training roadmaps, budgets, and analyst teams

    Inspire and coach colleagues, contributing to team development, engagement, and professional growth

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

    BA or equivalent required; MBA preferred

    5-8 years professional experience + undergrad or 4-5 years experience with MBA/Master’s, including 1–2 years of current or recent consulting experience at the Consultant level with a leading consulting firm

    Passion for the retail industry and its transformation

Preferred Experience

    Exposure to retail projects or industry roles

    Project management experience

    Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau)

    Analytical and problem solving skills and expertise to push insights to conclusive recommendations 

    Ability to effectively drive a piece of work end-to-end with limited direction

    Can perform complex, accurate analysis
