Beyond the Bio Podcast
This episode shares topics on mental health and suicide. Although this is an important conversation, please listen at your own discretion.
Andy Dunn had recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder when he accepted his Bain offer in 2000. Throughout his Bain and entrepreneurial journeys, Andy has faced the consulting world and building Bonobos, an upscale, e-commerce driven menswear brand, while battling an illness he'd dare not disclose in the workplace.
Now, Andy is on a mission to change the narrative around mental health conversations at work and normalize having discussions around it to help create supportive environments. Andy shares his mental health and career journeys in his memoir, Burn Rate: Launching a Startup and Losing My Mind, which sheds light on how he navigated it all.
Andy joins us in the continuation of our health and wellness series. As co-host, Mackenzie Morrison, Director of Professional Development, joins us in this episode to help lead this important conversation with Andy. As part of this series, Mackenzie spoke with us on a past episode around how Bain is intentionally focusing on worker wellbeing within the firm. To catch up with our episodes on health and wellbeing, be sure to listen to Worker Wellbeing: Bain’s Intentional Focus on Helping Employees Work Sustainably and The Future of Work: New Ways of Working in a Post-pandemic Workforce.
