Franco Baronio is a core member of the firm's Financial Services practice.
Franco joined Bain in 1992 and was elected to the partnership in 2001. He has more than 25 years of overall management consulting experience, with a deep emphasis on the European financial services space.
In his client work, Franco focuses on the development of industrial plans for large banks and insurance companies, resulting in large transformation programs. His key focus areas include commercial banking, full potential programs, active balance sheet management and de-risking programs, bank assurance and ecosystem full-potential strategy.
In 2006, he left the firm to become the general manager of Banca Popolare Italiana, where he was responsible for the organization’s crucial post-merger integration with Banco Popolare di Verona. Together, the two formed Banco Popolare, the fourth-ranked Italian retail banking group by total assets.
After the successful completion of the group’s turnaround, Franco rejoined Bain in 2011 as a senior partner in the financial practice.
Franco holds an MBA from INSEAD at Fontainebleau, as well as a degree in business administration, cum laude, from Bocconi University.
