Diversity & Inclusion

Women in Consulting at Bain

Gender diversity is a strategic priority for our firm. We invest deeply to ensure we are hiring the world's most talented female business leaders and helping each one to thrive personally and professionally.

Overview

Bain is raising the bar on how we think about long-term careers. We are moving from just supporting our women to be successful to ensuring that every woman at Bain truly thrives in her career. To us, thriving is more than just day-to-day success on the job; it is about enabling our women to grow and flourish in both their professional and personal lives. Thriving is a highly individual journey and Bain is focused on enabling every woman to thrive on her own path, based on her own professional and personal priorities.

In addition, women at Bain across every industry, consulting service and geography are making a huge impact daily for our clients. Their expertise and thought leadership are what fuel Bain’s impressive success.

Our People

Support

Local Women at Bain (WAB) support
We know that every woman is an individual, and every woman's path is different. In each office we have put in place a WAB partner and manager responsible for personalizing the global and regional initiatives to every individual woman in that office. These teams develop the local initiatives (mentorship, experience sharing, professional development) that further impact the day-to-day experience and enable women in that office to thrive.

Global leadership
Bain’s Global Women’s Leadership Council (GWLC) is our global "governing body" and includes our chief talent officer, our regional managing directors, several office heads from each region and other senior partners in the firm (both male and female). The GWLC’s primary role is to ensure that we develop and embed the global efforts to stay at the forefront of gender diversity in our firm. Within the GWLC, we have three regional operating committees that work to ensure that our global efforts are customized to each region and to create specific initiatives where relevant.

Career flexibility
We recognize that thriving requires flexibility in structuring your long-term career, so we invest to enable many models of success via a full suite of opportunities, including part-time work, transfers, externships, time away and internal roles.

Culture and training
We are focused on working with each region and office to ensure that we have an inclusive culture that enables every woman to thrive. This includes efforts such as ongoing dialogue forums to discuss the drivers of aspiration and confidence and the behaviors we need to undertake to influence them. Our Global Women's Forum is a three-day training session held every other year. It brings together all of our senior women, as well as many senior men, for training and conversations about day-to-day initiatives.
