Bain & Company receives silver rating from Ecovadis, recognizing the firm’s exceptional levels of corporate social responsibility

New York – April 16, 2020Bain & Company announced today that it received a silver rating from EcoVadis, the leading platform for environmental, social and ethical performance ratings for global supply chains.

The rating puts Bain & Company among the top 25 percent of companies rated by EcoVadis, which monitors supplier practices across 200 industries and 160 countries on behalf of 65,000 companies. Among other consulting firms, Bain & Company ranks in the top seven percent. This recognition is the result of a global effort by Bain & Company to achieve exceptional levels of corporate responsibility and sustainability across the firm’s 58 offices.

“Once again Bain & Company is recognized as a sustainability and corporate responsibility leader among global corporations and consultancies,” said Jenny Davis-Peccoud, a partner with Bain & Company and co-head of the firm’s global Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility practice. “We continue to invest in this area, and encourage our clients to do the same. We believe that sustainability will soon be as ubiquitous and significant a disruptor as digital was a decade ago.”

Bain & Company is a proud member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and has been certified as a 100 percent CarbonNeutral® firm for eight years in a row. The firm’s carbon neutral status accomplishment is due in part to an employee-led effort to minimize the firm’s carbon footprint through local initiatives across its 58 offices. These local efforts include recycling, reducing paper usage and conserving electricity, and are joined by firm-wide initiatives to reduce emissions, such as server consolidation, increased teleconferencing and purchasing green energy, which constitutes more than 96 percent of the firm’s electricity consumption.

“As best practices for sustainability and CSR become more widely adopted, pioneering firms are pursuing innovations that will allow them to achieve step changes in their business while helping to deliver a truly sustainable next economy,” said Jean-Charles van den Branden, a partner and co-head of Bain & Company’s Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility practice. “Bain put so much effort into reducing our own emissions and footprint because we believe that this will be a competitive advantage in the future. Our research suggests that those firms who move deliberately now will unlock significant business benefits as the rest of global firms play catch up in several years.”
