Dirk Vater takes over responsibility as Head of the Practice Group Banking at Bain & Company for the German-speaking area from Walter Sinn. Vater is based in Frankfurt and also leads Bain’s Global Retail Banking practice.

Die international tätige Managementberatung Bain & Company ernennt Dr. Dirk Vater zum neuen Leiter der Praxisgruppe Banken im deutschsprachigen Raum. Die Beratung der Finanzdienstleistungsbranche hatte in den letzten Jahren einen überproportionalen Anteil am starken Wachstum von Bain.
Dirk Vater ist Partner im Frankfurter Büro und Experte für Finanzdienstleistungen, hauptsächlich Banken und Sparkassen. Er berät seine Kunden vor allem in Strategie- und Transformationsprojekten im Privat- und Firmenkundengeschäft. Weltweit ist Vater bei Bain zudem für den Bereich Retail-Banking verantwortlich.
Seine neue Funktion übernimmt Dirk Vater von Walter Sinn, der seit 1. Juni Managing Director von Bain in Deutschland ist. „Dirk Vater ist Experte und Stratege zugleich“, sagt Sinn, der seine Kunden auch als Deutschland-Chef weiter beraten wird. „Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass er unsere Banking Practice inhaltlich und geschäftlich weiter voranbringen wird.“
Dirk Vater studierte Betriebswirtschaft an der Universität Mannheim mit den Schwerpunkten Finanzierung, Bankbetriebslehre und Organisation. Promoviert hat er mit einer Untersuchung über Private-Equity-Unternehmen in Deutschland. „Die Banken stehen nach der Finanz- und Wirtschaftskrise national und international immer noch vor großen Herausforderungen“, erklärt Dirk Vater. „Die Digitalisierung ihrer Geschäftsmodelle, der anhaltende Kostendruck, aber auch das Kundenvertrauen zurückzugewinnen bleiben dringende Aufgaben. Ich freue mich, unsere Kunden mit meiner Erfahrung und Kompetenz in verantwortlicher Position unterstützen zu können.“
