Associate – Corporate Finance CoE
Description & Requirements
About us
Bain & Company is a global management consulting firm that helps the world’s most ambitious change makers define the future. Across 65 offices in 40 countries, we work alongside our clients as one team with a shared ambition to achieve extraordinary results, outperform the competition and redefine industries. Since our founding in 1973, we have measured our success by the success of our clients, and we proudly maintain the highest level of client advocacy in the industry.
In 2004, the firm established its presence in the Indian market by opening the Bain Capability Center (BCC) in New Delhi. The BCC is now known as BCN (Bain Capability Network) with its nodes across various geographies. BCN is an integral and largest unit of (ECD) Expert Client Delivery. ECD plays a critical role as it adds value to Bain's case teams globally by supporting them with analytics and research solutioning across all industries, cross-industry capabilities, client development, private equity diligence or Bain intellectual property. The BCN comprises of Consulting Services, Knowledge Services and Shared Services.
Who you will work with
The Corporate Finance Center of Excellence (CF CoE) sits within Corporate Strategy & Finance (CS&F) solution. The CoE works as the innovation partner to the solution, enabling cutting-edge Intellectual property (IP) and Point of view (PoV) development and commercialization alongside client delivery. Our strength lies in our people, who are experts across corporate finance and capital markets, backed by solid capabilities around research, analytics, and stakeholder management.
The CF CoE works with Bain case teams and clients globally on the questions a CEO, CFO or board asks about value: how the company has created shareholder value and why, what its equity story should be, how capital should be allocated across the portfolio, what a business is worth, and how strategy and performance are communicated to investors. Alongside client casework, the team codifies Bain's corporate finance intellectual property and builds the AI-enabled tools and accelerators to deliver it. For more details, click here
Our work is industry agnostic. Over the course of a year an Associate can expect to work across sectors such as energy and natural resources, metals and mining, industrials, healthcare, consumer products, technology and financial services. Reading across business models and spotting the pattern that carries from one industry to the next is a core part of the role. The team operates out of BCN's Gurgaon office and our Mexico City office, and partners with Bain offices across the Americas, EMEA and APAC.
The team works in a heavily tech-enabled way. Proprietary tools and automated workflows handle a large share of the data assembly and first-cut analysis, which shifts the team's time toward judgment, cross-linking, and the 'so-what'. Associates are expected to work fluently in this way, to bring finance expertise beyond what the tools produce, and to help improve them.
Associates are expected to progressively provide significant direction on complex issues, and to help manage client and team meetings. Associates typically progress to Project Leader, taking on full case leadership and direct client ownership. Progression is based on demonstrated case leadership.

What you’ll do
Associates act as workstream leaders. They own a defined piece of the case answer end to end: framing the question, designing and running the analysis, pressure-testing the output, and landing the implications with the case team and client. This is consulting work rather than a purely analytical finance role, and it calls for financial acumen and storytelling in equal measure.
Case leadership and problem solving
- Structure ambiguous business questions into a clear approach, hypotheses, and analysis plan
- Own a workstream end to end, and over time run simpler cases independently
- Apply solid business judgment where data is not easily available or explicitly published
- Ensure timely, high quality, error-free research, analysis, and output
- Understand client needs and situations and adapt to case expectations
Financial acumen
- Read a business through its financials, connecting operating and financial performance to value
- Think through how a change in one financial metric flows across the financial statements and through to valuation
- Build and pressure-test valuation and financial models, and interpret what they imply for strategic choices
- Conduct company, industry, and investment research, cross-linking key drivers and KPIs across business models
Storytelling and client communication
- Translate analysis into a crisp, logically sequenced storyline, and build materials that carry an argument rather than only present data
- Clearly explain insights and implications for the client to the entire team
- Work directly with Bain case teams across global offices
AI-enabled ways of working
- Use AI tools fluently in day-to-day delivery: research, synthesis, first-cut analysis, and drafting
- Use the CoE's proprietary tools and AI-enabled workflows as the starting point for analysis, then apply judgment to validate, correct, and pressure-test what they produce
- Contribute to building, testing, and improving the CoE's AI-enabled tools and accelerators
Team and firm building
- May manage 1-2 Analysts, allocating and reviewing work, conducting performance discussions, and providing review inputs
- Coach and develop Analysts and interns on both technical craft and communication
- Take responsibility for sharing appropriate information across workstreams
Assist on office initiatives such as recruiting, training, and other CoE and BCN wide initiatives
