WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll join our Research and Data Services (RDS) team of information professionals who specialize in secondary research and work alongside Bain’s consulting teams to provide high quality results for our clients, some of the most successful and pioneering businesses in the world.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

As a research expert within the RDS team, you'll join the EMEA PEG/Generalist team delivering desk research to consulting staff and practice areas using an extended portfolio of industry-leading and alternative data sources. You’ll primarily focus on M&A, Private Equity, and other deal-related research requests while remaining open to supporting company financials and additional areas as needed.  A full onboarding program will be tailored for you.

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

Research (75%)

  • Conduct business research utilizing desktop resources and business tools to deliver on short to medium-term projects with limited oversight from supervisor.
  • Contribute as an active member of an Industry Team to support complex and specialized research, and should also be proficient in conducting general research in all areas of interest to Bain.
  • Proactively work with customers to understand the project context and specific information needs. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge and effective use of local, regional and global general and industry / capability specialized data sources and their applications.
  • Deliver accurate, well-organized and comprehensive research solution and result.
  • Develop regular relationship with internal stakeholder, solicit feedback on performed research and resolve issues.


Asset Building and others (25%)

  • Support activities including processing orders and new acquisitions, cataloging and serials check-in, end-user system updates, tracking circulation of materials from the collection and ongoing maintenance of department assets.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing, training, and relevant projects to continuously enhance skills alongside business growth.
  • Participate in product and service evaluations and process / tool innovations, and contribute in implementation as appropriate.
  • Conduct just-in-time and regular group training for researchers, consulting and consulting support staff. 
  • Build industry or subject matter expertise by supporting relevant projects, and attending different format of training and experience sharing.
  • Participate in Research and Data Services marketing efforts.


ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and embraces learning opportunities and new challenges. They should bring a tech-savvy mindset, demonstrating adaptability in a rapidly evolving role by using generative AI tools effectively and showing a strong interest in continuously improving and streamlining research processes. They should meet the following requirements:

  • Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Information Science or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ work experience in business information research in a consulting, financial services, accounting, or equivalent firm is preferred 
  • Solid knowledge of S&P Capital IQ, LSEG Workspace or Moody’s Orbis or other company financials-related sources
  • Ideally some experience with tools such as Dealogic, Pitchbook and Preqin or similar sources
  • Proficient use of established GenAI tools (ChatGPT, MS Copilot, Perplexity, etc.) for everyday tasks
  • Can-do attitude, an initiative-taking approach, and a strong desire to learn new skills
  • Analytical mindset, critical thinking skills and attention to details
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a professional, customer-focused attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with senior stakeholders and team members across the region
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong proficiency in at least one other European language 
  • Eligible to work in EU
