WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
Bain has formalized industry and capability “Practices” that are integral to how Bain wins and delivers results to its clients. Together they form our Product, Practice, and Knowledge ("PPK") team. The role of a Practice is to drive growth for Bain in a particular industry or capability together with offices, and boost Bain’s expertise and commercial excellence.
Financial Services (FS) is Bain’s Practice responsible for developing intellectual property and commercializing Bain’s approach to strategy, transformation, and operations across multiple sectors in this space, including Banking, Insurance, Wealth and Asset Management, Payments.
The Financial Services practice works closely with Bain’s capability practices (e.g. strategy, performance improvement, Vector) to bring the best of Bain to our clients. Vector encompasses Bain’s technology and data/analytic capabilities (including Artificial Intelligence).
WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
The Practice Consultant will be a critical member of our Americas Financial Services Practice team (reporting to the Practice Senior Manager and partnering with our Regional Practice Leader). Their analytical, interpersonal, creative thinking, business management and leadership skills will be called upon from day one. Our Practice has a significant growth agenda and is in the midst of a transformation to deliver on this ambition.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Practice management
- Regional meetings
- Partner with PSM and RPL to own regional meeting planning including agenda and facilitators
- Core practice governance
- Drive key governance activities for the practice – setting meeting agendas, crafting materials, and monitoring action items and tracking investment and KPI progress
- Develop ad-hoc analysis and executive-level presentations to showcase progress towards growth agenda
- Regional practice plan and budget
- Support the RPL / PSM in developing the regional practice plan and budget; coordinate with global team to ensure consistency of elements and approach
Talent strategy and planning
- Support efforts to expand our Americas FS talent pipeline
- Partner with PSM to maintain single source of truth on our talent pipeline (including puts and takes from hiring, transfers, and new affiliation)
- Affiliate engagement through regional calls, training/ information sharing
- Work with the RPL and PSM to set agendas for regional calls and trainings and coordinate with facilitators on specific topics
- Affiliate career development, HLAs and ratings
- Provide input to PSM/RPL on affiliate contributions tracked during the HLA process; gather and coordinate input from sector teams
Commercial operations
- Client priorities
- Support PSM/RPL with client priority selections for the region; communicate list and rationale to global team
- Account management process
- Set account management calls with RPL, attend
- Interlock execution
- Measure interlock progress, including content creation and commercialization; support interlock content creation as needed, in coordination with the sector
- Identify experts for specific client development, proposals, pitches and delivery; connect them with client heads
- Own the sales collateral on priority IP, including what is needed to be competitive (formats, content topics, promoters) as bandwidth allows
- Support proposals for priority accounts in specific areas of personal expertise; support cases / clients as bandwidth allows
Marketing and brand building
- Regional external meetings/forums
- Support content development for key Marketing Summits and other events; package relevant insights for IP development
- Work with hosts and content facilitators to prepare for events, with limited RPL / PSM support; pre-wires calls, dry-runs on content and discussions
- Regional marketing collateral
- Create videos, blogs, briefs and other sales collateral with the Marketing team, specific to the region and to meet regional commercial goals; track ROI/impact
ABOUT YOU
This role follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence at least 3 days per week.
- 5-7 years industry experience (within Business Intelligence, special projects, operations focus) with an undergraduate degree OR 2-3 years experience with MBA/Master’s OR MBB consulting experience at the Senior Associate or Consultant level OR Senior Consultant Level at other management consulting firms
- Proven ability to effectively drive a piece of work end-to-end with limited direction, creating workplans, prioritizing and delegating tasks, and working with diverse teams (COEs, Marketing, Finance, Experts, Service Providers, and client-facing teams) to deliver initiatives
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, including advanced Excel modeling competency
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English Language at a C1 level
- Structures and design impactful slides and written updates; can clearly communicate insights and implications of work to senior stakeholders at the right level of detail
- Steer and direct highly effective small meetings; participates in meetings with more senior stakeholders and appropriately shares opinion
- Track record of inspiring, motivating, and apprenticing junior team members
- Has a basic understanding of Financial Management concepts including reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet), and business KPIs
- Experience using AI based tools to accelerate research, problem solving, and content creation
- Flexibility to work outside usual business hours to accommodate for the global nature of the role working across timezones
