WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You’ll join Bain’s Global Public Relations team, working closely with senior leaders and reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Public Relations. This team is responsible for shaping and amplifying Bain’s global reputation through strategic media engagement, integrated campaigns, and high-impact storytelling.
You’ll collaborate with partners, global practice leaders, and marketing colleagues across regions to bring Bain’s insights and expertise to life in the market. In this highly visible role, you’ll also build strong relationships with top-tier journalists and media outlets, positioning Bain as a leading voice on critical business issues.
The team operates in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where thoughtful storytelling, sound judgment, and strong stakeholder partnership are critical to success.
WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
You will play a key role in building and protecting Bain’s reputation among the firm’s key stakeholders, particularly journalists. You’ll partner with Bain’s partners and marketing colleagues to ensure communications activities are aligned with the firm’s strategic business and brand objectives.
This role requires strong executive presence and sound judgment, with the ability to both collaborate effectively and operate independently.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build the reputation of Bain’s business, industry practices and partners through media relations and public relations activities, including placing feature stories, strategically pitching research, conducting media tours around events and capitalizing on breaking news
- Proactively identify and drive media angles that elevate Bain’s expertise and capabilities across top-tier, trade and broadcast media
- Serve as a trusted advisor to partners and senior stakeholders, conducting media trainings and providing strategic counsel on positioning, messaging, and external engagement
- Develop an internal network of global partners who are industry experts, mapping them to key journalists and publications to drive comprehensive outreach programs
- Strategize with Global Practice Areas, Practice Marketers and Market Reputation colleagues to develop communications plans for firm client development priorities
- Build on the developed network of media contacts at leading business, trade press and broadcast outlets to facilitate the placement of stories and interviews
- Draft and oversee the development of press releases, pitch notes, key messages, and other core PR assets, ensuring consistency and quality
- Assess inbound media requests and advise on reputational considerations, recommending and executing appropriate response strategies
- Support crisis and issues management strategy development and handling of unfavorable media requests in collaboration with PR leadership
- Analyze campaign performance and media impact and provide recommendations to inform future strategy
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to overall team capability building
ABOUT YOU
- 6–8 years’ experience in a communications-related field, at a PR agency and/or in a communications role within the consulting or professional services industries
- Demonstrated experience leading and executing multi-channel external PR programs
- Strong working relationships with editors and journalists at top publications (e.g., Financial Times, Economist, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Businessweek, Fortune, Forbes, Reuters, CNBC)
- Proven ability to advise senior partners with credibility and confidence
- Ability to analyze and grasp a wide range of complex business issues, with a strong interest in knowledge development and the dissemination of ideas
- Ability to manage multiple media requests and high-priority initiatives across geographies and stakeholders concurrently
- Superior writing and editorial skills, including the ability to distill complex ideas and research into compelling stories that drive engagement
- Strong understanding of media dynamics; experience as a journalist or broadcast producer is a plus
- Professional presence and experience necessary to interact with partners as a peer
- Proven track record of securing high-value, earned media coverage in top-tier publications
- Outstanding influencing and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivation and entrepreneurship, with an appetite for working in a fast-paced, low-structure environment
- Strong team orientation and commitment to team success and client impact
This role follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence at least 2 days per week.
U.S. COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package.
Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:
- In New York, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $124,500 – $149,500
- In Chicago, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $109,500 – $131,500
- In Boston, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $114,500 – $137,500
Placement within these ranges will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, training, and skill level.
- Annual discretionary performance bonus
- This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation
- 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, fully vested upon start
