In less than thirty years Mercosur has become a major world power in the export of agricultural crops. Understanding what factors enabled this transformation is a fundamental step to take part in the business opportunities that will arise hereafter. On the following pages there is a brief summary explaining the major changes occurred and their implications.

Bain believes that there are still significant opportunities for value creation and appreciation of agricultural land across the region, especially in the "new" agricultural areas. The levers of this appraisal will be the technical development and research, which help increase productivity, along with the logistics infrastructure improvement that, albeit slowly, is already happening.
