Initially setting his sights on becoming a scientist during his college years at the University of Virginia, Miles’s path took a sharp turn towards business, leading him to join Bain in 1986 when the firm was still young. After a few years, he chose to continue his education and earn an MBA from Stanford before returning to Bain. Throughout his tenure, Miles has had many leadership roles including contributing to the establishment of the Bain Atlanta office, where he later became office head. With firsthand insight into how Bain has grown since its early days to now, Miles shares the unique factors that have kept him dedicated to the firm for decades.

In addition to serving our clients, Miles plays a pivotal role in supporting our alumni as Chairman of the Investment Committee for Future Back Ventures, Bain’s alumni venture fund. With 13% of our alumni either joining or founding startups, this fund provides financial and non-financial support to these businesses and individuals.
