Cheap air tickets will not be available in Russia any time soon. Vedomosty received the full list of arrangements required to set up a discounter airline that Aeroflot asked Vladimir Putin for in October. But public officials and trade unions have objections regarding almost any item on that list. The prerequisites for a low-cost airline to be established by Aeroflot are presented in the letter from Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Saveliev to President Putin dated 26 October. Vedomosty managed to learn the contents of the document, and President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed that such document exists. ‘Russian air transportation market average growth rate is 12%, but only a small part of population of about 7M of the citizens of Russia use it,’ writes Saveliev. Although TCP projected that in 2012 airlines will serve about 90M people.
